The Museum of Modern Art is located in the building designed and built by José Miniño, which was initially the Gallery of Modern Art, in the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte. Today, this place is the main Dominican institution dedicated to the conservation and dissemination of modern and contemporary Dominican art. It has a permanent collection where you can see a large sample of both Dominican and foreign works. For a greater expansion of the knowledge of the visual arts, its library, especially aimed at students, artists and researchers, opens its doors so that you can learn more about any subject related to modern or contemporary art.

The modern amphitheater of Puerto Plata, which bears the name of &quot;Juan Lockward&quot; and which is located on the boardwalk of Puerto Plata on the edge of the Atlantic, the Lighthouse and the San Felipe Fortress, is a new contribution to tourism and music , not only for this province but for the entire country. The attractive amphitheater consists of an area of 1,877.68 square meters, a stage of 315 square meters, capacity for more than 4 thousand people, and where more than RD $ 250 million were invested. The project was executed by the construction company KUKI Silverio Industrial CXA, under the coordination and supervision of the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Areas (CEIZTUR) of the Ministry of Tourism. It is the perfect setting for concerts, dance performances and other artistic events that occasionally take place here with the participation of Dominican and international artists.
